Crochet magic by

Mushrooms

In 2019 I made during #the100dayproject one hundred crochet mushrooms, creating one each day for 100 days in a row.

I loved the topic so much that my crochet mushroom collection is still slowly growing.

Quite often I draw inspiration straight from nature trying to make my mushrooms look like real ones. Other times I let my mind run free and create fun colorful fantasy mushrooms.

Wearable Art

Finding out about freeform crochet definitely opened my mind and let my creativity flow more freely. The concept of no right or wrong, and the knowing that there really are no limits appealed to me a lot. Freeform crochet is like painting with yarn and hook. Possibilities are endless!

I like to play with color and texture using a lot of textural stitches, mixing different yarns and threads in my work, creating different layers and often adding beads and sequins.

About Me

My name is Marianne Seiman. I'm a swimming coach with a strong passion for crochet. I've been crocheting for the past 20 years.

My crochet work has been sold locally in different Estonian design shops and also online for international clients.

For several years I designed crochet accessories and wearables for Estonian craft magazine “Käsitöö”. Some of my patterns are also available online at heegeldab.etsy.com. In recent years I’ve been working more on a smaller scale, making mostly crochet brooches and necklaces.

As I live in the middle of woods right next to the beach lots of my works are inspired by nature.

I love that crochet can be so versatile. With some experience one can actually crochet any shape in the world. And that is exactly what makes it so exciting for me - there is still so much to discover, so many paths to take!
